Direct answer
Use the lowest rating that matches the real handling route.
A pallet rated for 30,000 lb while fully supported at rest may have an edge-rack rating below 3,000 lb. That is not a contradiction: it is a different support and stress condition. Never substitute the static number for unsupported racking or forklift movement.

Why a product sheet matters
| 48 × 40 model | Static | Dynamic | Edge rack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stack’R HD solid deck | 30,000 lb | 4,000 lb | 2,800 lb |
| Odyssey HD low profile | 30,000 lb | 6,000 lb | 2,800 lb |
| P3 stackable | 30,000 lb | 3,000 lb | Direction-limited; see product sheet |
These values illustrate the difference between conditions. They do not establish an “average plastic pallet” capacity and do not transfer to another model.
Before loading
Confirm every limiting condition
- Exact manufacturer, model, age, damage and repair status.
- Uniform versus concentrated load and whether the load can shift.
- Fork, pallet jack, conveyor, rack type, support direction and clear span.
- Temperature, dwell time, impact, moisture, chemicals and fire policy.
- Required safety factor and the facility’s inspection/rejection policy.
The weight calculator can total product, pallet and packaging weight. It cannot certify the pallet or rack. Enter the manufacturer-approved working limit for your actual configuration.

Common questions
FAQ
What is static load capacity?
It is the manufacturer’s stated capacity for the defined supported, stationary condition. It is not automatically a forklift, conveyor or rack limit.
What is dynamic load capacity?
It is a manufacturer-defined moving or handling condition. Confirm the applicable equipment, load distribution, speed and environment in the model documentation.
Why is rack capacity usually lower?
Unsupported racking creates bending between supports. Span, direction, reinforcement, temperature and load distribution can change the allowable load.
Can I use a generic plastic-pallet capacity?
No. Select the exact model and use the lowest rating that matches every stage of the actual handling route.
Previous generic “most pallets hold” ranges were removed. The page now distinguishes support conditions and uses named product examples only.
